DIY Doterra Essential Oil Shower Gel

Bubble baths can be a fun experience for kids and a relaxing part of an evening for adults. Commercial bubble baths are often full of artificial chemicals and fragrances that can irritate the skin. If you want to reduce the amount of chemicals in your home but still enjoy the pleasant experience of a bubble bath, we'll show you doTERRA's recipe for making your own bubble bath using essential oils and skin-friendly ingredients.

While you could directly add essential oils to bathwater, essential oils are not water-soluble, so they won't dissolve in water on their own. To solve this, they are usually added to soap, which then goes into the water. However, with this "Do It Yourself" bubble bath, the other ingredients ensure that the oil disperses evenly in the water.

Using essential oils during a bath is an especially good choice if you want to create a certain mood. For example:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unscented castile soap*

  • ½ cup vegetable glycerin

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 15 drops of your favorite doTERRA essential oil

* Natural, plant-based soap. Castile soap dissolves well in water, is gentle, and provides an excellent base for homemade personal care or cleaning products — such as bubble baths, soaps, or liquid detergents.

Preparation

  1. Combine castile soap, glycerin, and water in a glass bowl.

  2. Add essential oils.

  3. Mix thoroughly.

  4. Pour into a glass storage container.

Usage: Add ¼–½ cup of the essential oil bubble bath to warm, running bathwater.

Note: This bubble bath will not create a huge, long-lasting cloud of foam, as it does not contain the synthetic materials that produce a large amount of foam. However, this chemical-free solution provides enough bubbles for a pleasant, relaxing bath that you will enjoy even more.
